We are thankful to the Lord for another successful fundraiser at the annual Evening of Thanksgiving. Our event took place at Illiana Christian High School on October 27, 2023. Tim Boer, the evening's emcee, extended a warm welcome following the opening punchbowl social. Rev. Brad McMurray of Grace Church (PCA) and husband to our newest faculty member, Mrs. Robin McMurray (Rhetoric Omnibus and Kindergarten Art), then opened with devotions and prayer before a family-style meal was served by Illiana catering.
After dinner, Principal Mckenzie provided a school update, including a warm sharing of some of the spiritual instruction and themes that the Providence children have been receiving this school year.
Following the Principal’s update, the tables took part in a Trivia game led by the emcee, Tim Boer. The questions were submitted by the teachers, demonstrating some of the subjects and facts that the students across all grades are learning. Thus, it was no surprise that our alumni choir was one of the winners! Winning tables had the opportunity to select various Providence branded promotional items at the end of the night.
Following trivia, Vice President Doug Hoekstra gave a building update, which included a very informative slide deck reviewing the history, development, and ongoing progress that the Providence facility has seen. Treasurer Bryan Punter concluded the board updates by sharing an update on the financial goals and needs of the school.
The evening closed with attendees enjoying a beautiful singing performance from the alumni choir (graduates of Providence) with Charity Regnerus providing piano accompaniment. Board Secretary Quinn Steffen closed with prayer and then all in attendance joined to sing 'Praise to the Lord, the Almighty.'
We are indeed thankful for all who attended this event and have continued to support Providence through prayer, volunteer work, and financial contributions. This year, we raised approximately $145,000, exceeding last year’s giving by a meaningful margin. During the course of the past year, we have accomplished a significant amount of renovating to accommodate the school’s needs, including the completion of the indoor gymnasium and conversions in Suite D for additional classroom space.
Your donations have allowed us to continue to grow and expand according to our mission and constituency, while keeping tuition expenses reasonably low and maintaining financial stability.
