Geography Bee Champion

Logan Darling, a 7th grader, won the school-level competition of the National Geography Bee on Friday, January 17. Logan competed against the top two finalists in each grade 4-8. His win over Caleb Bruinsma, who finished second, and Abbey Helmus and Tessa Regnerus, who tied for third, earned Logan a school medal and qualifies him for a chance at an eventual first-place prize of a $25,000 college scholarship, $1,000 in cash, a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society, and a trip to the Galápagos Islands.

Logan must now compete in a State Bee Qualifying Examination and score well enough to move on to the state level of competition. The winners of each state will advance to the National Championship in Washington, D.C.
